Giving your flowers the care and attention they deserve will help them to stay at their very best for a little longer. We all want our flowers to last as long as possible so we can hold onto the joy they bring.
Here are some top tips to help preserve those flowers.
Cutting Your Stems
Once you receive your flower delivery, remove all the packaging and cut approximately 2-3cm from the bottom of the stems, whilst cutting your stems ensure you cut at approximately 45 degree angle to create a larger surface area for your flowers to drink from.
Ensure that all leaves are removed from the stems below your water level, this will help keep the water as fresh as possible and free from bacteria.
Choose a Vase
Once you have chosen a vase for your flowers to sit within, fill the vase with lukewarm water, this will help your flowers to absorb more water. Next add the first sachet of flower food included within your package. If you haven’t received any flower food, try a teaspoon of sugar.
Taking care of your flowers
Flowers love clean water, always ensure the water if fresh, try and change on a regular basis, we recommend every few days. Additionally once you have added fresh water add the second sachet of flower food on day 3 included with your package.
The best place to keep your flowers
To maximise the life of your flowers, keep them out of direct sunlight and away from draughts and heat sources such as radiator. Keep your flowers away from the fruit bowl, Ripening fruit gives off an odourless invisible gas called ethylene. This gas is harmless to humans but can be deadly to flowers and will cause them to deteriorate quickly.
